Stretch Marks Skin

One of the most common causes of stretch marks would be pregnancy. Almost ninety percent of women who get pregnant also develop stretch marks on their skin. Usually, the marks appear on the breasts and abdominal area. This is because the skin in these areas is expanding rapidly as part of pregnancy. A pregnant woman would have engorged breast in preparation for lactation while the abdominal area is expanding in order to accommodate the growing fetus inside. With these sudden changes, the skin is not able to immediately adapt to the rapid expansion, which results to the appearance of the stretch marks on the skin.

While it seemed to be inevitable to have these stretch marks during pregnancy, there are also other causes of the appearance of these marks. Those who have gained weight rapidly may develop the marks on their skin in different areas. Some may have hidden marks on their inner arms while some have obvious marks on their legs. Having these marks are aesthetically unpleasant and those who have them are often embarrassed and can develop low self esteem.

There are a lot of ways on how to keep your skin hydrated and one would be to increase your water intake. The recommended intake of water is at least 8 glasses per day but that would still depend on your daily activities.

Aside from drinking water, you can also maintain your skin hydrated by applying natural oils. These natural oils can help in maintaining your skin's hydration to ensure that it is not dry. Another great product to apply to your skin would be topical retinoids. These can help in reducing the appearance of the scars as it stimulates the production of collagen in the skin. Collagen is a very important component of the skin but its production tends to decrease as we get older. Hence, supplementing the skin with ingredients that stimulate the production collagen will help in ensuring that the skin is healthy and scars such as stretch marks on the skin shall be prevented.

In addition to topical applications, it would also be helpful if you are going to have your daily supplements of vitamins and minerals.
